Application of low pressure sodium lamp in solar lighting system:

At present , with the short supply of electric energy, and the increase of domestic consumption, the energy source is in great lacks .So that the energy saving requirement by the state is getting stricter.

Solar energy, an environment friendly energy source, is highly promoted by the state. Low pressure sodium lamp is high in efficiency (200lm/W), long in lifespan, and can seldom be affected by ambient temperature. Application of low pressure sodium lamp in street lighting:

At present, high pressure sodium lamp is the main light source in street and square lighting system. Mostly, magnetic ballast is used in these lighting systems.
Take the most widely used 250W high pressure sodium lamp in street lighting, as an example (supposing that a street is installed with 100 lamps, and each operates for 10 hours everyday)

The output power of magnetic ballast fluctuates from the voltage of power supply. While for electronic ballast, in the voltage of 160V-260V, it is constant in power output. Therefore, in practical application, the electricity consumption of magnetic ballast is 10% more than electronic ballast.

According to the above data, if we use 180W low pressure sodium lamp to replace 250W high pressure sodium lamp, the luminance of each lamp increases by 5500LM,and the luminous flux of the whole street increases by 550000LM.
The electricity consumption is reduced by 95KW-hour/day*365days= 34675KW-hour. Thus the electricity energy saved each year is 34675KW-hour.

The energy saving effect is more distinct if the voltage of power supply network fluctuates greatly, and the electricity saved is increased by 10%-20%


Application of low pressure sodium lamp in tunnel lighting

At present, 70W,100W high pressure sodium lamp are broadly used as main light source (fixed light)in tunnel lighting system. Take a tunnel with 400 lamps as an example, and suppose that the following light source operates for 24 hours each day.

The above data shows that, employing low pressure sodium lighting
electricity energy saved everyday: 748.8-547.2=201.6KW-hour
electricity energy saved every year:201.6*365=73584KW-hour
saved expense for electricity every year:201.6*365=73584
Furthermore, the luminance of the tunnel is increased by 880000LM
The energy saving effect is more distinct, if the voltage supply fluctuates greatly, and 12%-20% electric energy is saved.
